Today’s the day!

From today the first of June we can once again travel within NSW!

To celebrate, I’m sharing my two favourite holiday rentals that allow you to bring your dog. I actually have three favourites I could recommend but one of them is no longer available, I think the owners now live there full-time. How selfish! 😉

🙂

1. The Dairy at Beauridge Farm, Kangaroo Valley

If you’ve haven’t been to Kangaroo Valley, it’s worth the trip. It’s a little scenic pocket of loveliness situated between Sydney and the Southern Highlands, about a two hour drive from Sydney. It’s mainly a rural farming area and also has a gentle river where you can swim and kayak. As well as activities on the river there is a cooking school and Fitzroy Falls is just a short drive away. Kangaroo Village itself has some lovely shops to browse and very good cafes and restaurants.

There’s a range of accommodation from budget to out of this world, but my favourite dog-friendly Airbnb is The Dairy at Beauridge Farm. The pictures on the Airbnb link do not do this place justice (and that was what I said in the review I left on my first visit!)

It’s a one bedroom cottage, clean and modern, located on a working farm. It’s far enough away from the farm main house to be private and you have everything you need. Alexandra will even sell you a steak from the farm for the barbeque.

You have lots of space to chill inside and outside and you can also walk around the farm with your dog on a lead.

My favourite time to visit is autumn as the town is quiet but it’s not yet really chilly and the accommodation rates are a steal. There is a woodburning stove for the really chilly nights.

In summer Kangaroo Valley gets really popular and the cicadas are deafening, be warned!

If you haven’t ever used Airbnb, here’s my referral link which will get you $76 off your booking and also give me a credit for my next trip.

Thanks! 🙂

2. Aqua Shores Studio, Mollymook

Mollymook is about a three hour drive from Sydney, so within my limits for a long weekend. It has a dog friendly beach (on-leash only) and a small shopping village for everything you need. Mollymook is home to Rick Stein’s restaurant Bannisters but just quietly, I think it is very overrated, although the pizza bar at the same venue is good. Try Tallwood instead. The lovely town of Milton is just up the road which is well worth a day trip when you are all beached out.

Views from dog-friendly accommodation at The Studio, Aqua Shores

The Aqua Shores Studio is literally over the road from the dog beach.

OVER THE ROAD, GUYS!

Yes, the place is a tiny studio apartment, but I think the price is outstanding good value for somewhere literally on the beach. There’s even a barbeque and table setting in the tiny front yard.

I think the rates are best if you book directly from this link rather than Stayz or Airbnb and you will also be offered a good rate for your next visit, which is a nice touch.

So….what are your favourite places to stay in NSW with your pooch? Leave a comment below.
